I like Fat Ray. He’s a dope artist, but unfortunately we don’t get to see enough of him. In February he dropped the track “Joan Rivers” backed by an insane beat and crazy visuals leaving myself and others to hope that a full-length album may be dropping this summer.
Although I don’t know who to give credit to I can’t say enough about how great the production on this record is; it’s definitely a banger. The video for the song is directed by Brandon Damon, and the visuals, handled by Auxiliary Cinema, are top notch. Overall, the track doesn’t disappoint. Ray’s lyrics are executed precisely and this gritty track is a perfect fit for Ray’s style.
This is what you call a complete record, meaning the video, beat, and lyrics are all equally strong. Although the track could be longer this record is still worthy of a strong 8/10.
His latest single titled “Black Sheep” is a decent track, although lyrics are little elementary, the track still manages to shine with nice production and timely drops. The record seems to really stand out when Esham shows his versatility on the mic by flipping tones and characters essentially giving us a glimpse into Esham’s little-known personality.
Overall, it’s great to see Esham finally taking his career seriously. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a new chapter in Esham’s life.
His new album Scribble is slated to be released on May 26, 2017, via Acidrap.com.
